May 16, 2015 - Hike from Monte San Salvatore to Carona

This morning we took the funicular up to the top of Monte San Salvatore and then hiked the backside of the mountain down to the town of Carona. I didn't take too many pictures because I already have so many from the top of this mountain, and then on the hiking path it was so steep and winding that it was hard to get a good picture of the path. Yes, it was a very steep, rocky way down! Glad I had my hiking poles!
View looking north from Mt San Salvatore. That is Lugano down below.

Rick on the path down the backside.

From the town of Ciona, looking back to Mt San Salvatore. We began at the top where the church is on the right of the top of the mountain and came down through the forest on the back slope. It took us a couple hours to hike to Carona, but we are slow hikers!
